The website provides details of how to contact ABC Counselling and Psychotherapy and gives an explanation of the types of approach we use working with our clients. The site explains psychodynamic, person-centred and integrated theories. Our location details are also provided and a map is included.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
The web is an essential tool for marketing our practice and making contact with our clients. It is the doorway into our services and presents our clients with an idea of the kind of work we do. It sets the tone for the work we do with clients.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
This is the first website we have launched.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
ABC Counselling summarises the steps we can take to address our personal issues. It is also a pun on the REBT approach which uses what is known as the ABC Model to treat clients in CBT.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
The design of the site is very fresh and in keeping with the kind of work we do
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
We aim to continue growing our client base and add value for our clients by providing articles and freely accessed information about psychotherapy.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
A website takes a careful initial investment of time and money. Success on the web, like any business, can take time. However, if your website works it can be a hugely important source of business.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
It would be useful to spend money on search engine optimisation if we had a huge budget.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
For sure, there is a pool of skilled therapists available who could be used to meet significant demand.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Registering with online directories is time consuming and it is hard to know how effective they are though www.classifieds1000.com is fantastic.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Challenges are opportunities to learn and change our approach to things. Learning about web marketing has been a steep learning curve.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Search engine optimisation without a doubt, so far.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It is much more involved than one would have expected.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
The site has been going since April 2009. No matter what happens we are here to stay on the web. Our approach may evolve but we are online for good or bad!
What is unique about your services?
There are many good therapists out there however at ABC Counselling and Psychotherapy we focus on the importance of the working relationship between the therapist and the client. The work we do is discussed with the client and explained. There are no smoke and mirrors, everything is transparent.
